Disc Golf Atlanta Disc-cussion

Anyone know what date Hotlanta will be this year. Daniel, JPZ are yall going to TD it again? I'm trying to set my year out and want to make it to that event. Can anyone give me a ball park date and confidence that it will happen again in 2009?

Rand.... I don't think there is a Hotlanta this year... no one has stepped up to the plate yet.

I really hadn't planned on running Hotlanta this year. Maybe. I'd definetly like to run another event at Moseley, but the the two course/having to pay for Redan/and the wear and tear on my body (and mind) really was a lot.

No plans of yet I guess. My wife would also probably kill me. I was also thinking that if I ran it I would not do as many things as I did last year. Less discs, probably no t-shirts, go more low-tech.

Thats the thing about Hotlanta, it has had several TD's.

Anyone care to take up the reins this year? Last time I looked the month of July looked good.

It looks like it will be happening again.

Mark your calanders (tentatively) for the first weekend in August (1st and 2nd). Waiting on course approval, and Keith approval to get it officially on the books.

Once again the parks of choice will be Redan and JP Moseley park. We are looking to do two seperate payouts to help expodite payout.

June 27th & 28th is looking pretty good. The first weekend of August would exclude those of us playing in the Worlds. Just something to consider.

I really am looking forward to the "hope" more so than the change; however I don't know what either one of them means? Anyway, yes I have played J.P. Mosely in the tournament last year as well as several practice rounds. I personally think it is quite possibly the best course in the Atlanta area although I haven't gotten a full round in yet at White Oak or played Perkerson at all. That being said I still think that Redan and Lenora go better together and are closer to each other. Lenora presents some interesting challenges, especially if the wind is blowing, that most other courses don't offer. Oh well doesn't matter.

Yea dates can be changed. I like a fourth of July weekend, or possibly the weekend afterward, just thinking of the other tournaments around that time and I was thinking of not competing with them...Used to be only three tournamwents a year, now nearly thirty (lets all thank Keith kids :lol:

).

Been on vacation all week. Chris andf I will hammer out the dates to become firm. I will contact you Speedy when I know the dates that we would like to reserve for Redan. Thanks for helping out with this.

P.S. Comparing tournament play between Lenora and JPM...oh boy...Nothing against Lenora but we have wind at JPM too.

Used to be only three tournamwents a year, now nearly thirty (lets all thank Keith kids ).

Hey now , I only added 6. :mrgreen:

One thing to consider, not for milage, but for possibly having Augusta area players make choices, is that Augusta already has their series Event set for the 11/12th of July.
The 4-5th if it works for you guys also gives Chris and everyone travelling the Friday off from work to drive to the area, or come and practice the course, and if the city of Stockbridge does fireworks, they can check them out also. Also the weekend before - June 27/28th is open. Things to consider, and just let me know when you guys have settled on a firm date.

Never anybody there but us DGers!
being that both parks have courses that are seperate from the rest of the park it should not cause to much of a problem.

So I am a little curious how this tournament works. Is this 2 courses over two days for a total of 72 holes? I would like to partake in this tournament, and if it is 36 holes per day I need to condition myself for it. I have gotten myself to the point I can play 36 holes back to back without a problem, but usually by the next day I am sore. I do exercise regularly, not counting disc golf, I lift weights and do cardio, but 36 holes of disc golf still puts a hurting on me. I think if I plan to play in Hotlanta I am going to have to start playing a lot more disc golf so that my body gets used to it and stops being sore.

I really need to start playing 36 holes when I go out, but I don't have many friends willing to play 36 with me. Usually by the end of 18 they want to go home. I did get one of my friends the other day to go 24 holes. I guess that is the only problem I have. I got way into disc golf, but my friends did not. They enjoy it, but don't have the same "wanting" to play it like I do. I would be out almost every day if I could hitting up different courses. Of course that isn't possible even if I wanted too, but I am lucky if I can get my friends to go out twice a month. I would like to start at least playing once a week if not more. Am I crazy for wanting to play so much? :twisted:

Me and my pals played 36 holes both Sat and Sun and 18 holes twice during the workweek last Hotlanta event. It is a physical accomplishment to maintain a consistent level of play both physically and mentally. The main concern at hotlanta as the name states is the HEAT!!! If you have never played Moseley in the middle of the day, middle of the summer, you will need to get yourself used to that type of punishment.

Yeah, it does seem brutal. Especially for a big guy like me. Well, I guess I have a goal to shoot for
