thank you Baker Paint for the big sponsorship!

58 spots left!

Icebowl layout >>
Hole numbers for #4-#12 will be different than normal as we'll be playing 18 holes without current #13. "old 4" will be played as #4. Current #9 will be par 5 playing to #13's long basket. both divisions possibly playing shorter tees the 2nd round...especially if weather is bad...some of the shorter holes are better than the longer ones!

Top post updated with times

Also in the top post.... All divisions will play shorter tees in 2nd round (i decided). i'm in the process of updating maps & scorecards with distances.

to make a comparison, the shorter layout is much longer than savannah's short pads relative to the long course. i haven't even played it yet, so looking forward to it.

Yep, 100% chance of having enough baskets -- I've personally got 7 extra portables, as well as 2 extras that we'll be giving away @ the ice bowl (so personally i've got 9 backups that we could use) -- i just keep posting that we need baskets as we're trying to have all metal. I'm 99% sure we'll have them, as we always have in the past.

nope it's not marked at all, although we've worn teepads in if you get in the vicinity of a hole...you may be able to figure it out from the map below...good news is you're in the same boat as everyone else.

here is a map of the layout we'll be playing. proposed wooded holes are also shown. note that #'s have changed slightly from what everyone knows!

They are slate..not granite!!

Each division winner gets a very nice trophy!!!

All are different, yet almost the same size (glass Pheonix)... the bases were very hard to get the same size with each since I had to break them into pieces. All are unique and will be a great addition to the trophy wall or as a center piece on your dinner table 8)
The glass is very fragile and I'm not sure if we'll have them for display for long at the tournament. I'll have one out for people to look at, but I don't want to come up with a game plan if one gets broken... I do have a back up plan, but not a back up trophy. :?
A decent amount of time was put into these trophies and I hope that they will reflect the amount of pride that John has for Perkerson Park. The bottoms are lined with soft carpet (actually wall covering that looks like carpet) and will not scratch anything that you set them on.

Please take a look at the CFR's and other discs that John has for sale.... they are very nice also!!!! Don't pass up the deal for buying them:
Buy before & at the tournament deals:
All champion discs (Teebird-L, Firebird, Monarch)
$13 each
2 for $25
3 for $36

All CFR discs (Champion Glo Firebird-L, Champion Glo No Bead Aviar & Champion Destroyer)
$20 each

Buying these discs will help raise money for the charity:
The Sullivan Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located just 3 blocks from Perkerson Park - their mission is to prevent homelessness through education, financial and referral resources. Website = http://www.thesullivancenter.org/

Please donate as much money as you can to the tournament as this will go a long way in helping to make Perkerson Park a permenant course, the first 18 hole course inside the perimeter and the first course inside of Atlanta city limits!!!!!

:!:  We'll also be doing a "Park Pride" clean up day the Sunday before the tournament (2-1-09)
We'll be focusing on cleaning out the tree's in the river bed (as long as there's no rain before that), also cleaning up trash around the course, a basic course on invasive plants and how they affect the park, clearing of a few areas that invasive plants are taking over, a basic idea of the "wooded holes" and walking trails that are in the future plans, and eat some food provided by Sausage Panther catering service (me & my grill)..... all for free!!

I'll post pics of the trophies, but the plates are not done yet..... I have made paper ones to give an idea of what will be.... pics posted later after I eat dinner. 8)

 Support the cause (Sullivan Center) and support the course (Perkerson Park & John Ritger)

ritger,

will there be a modest payout? I am guessing since its a c-tier you have to have at least a 85% payout correct?!?!?

Just trying to figure out where to play, if i have a chance at some money may play pro, but if its all for the trophies i'm thinking Advanced (since my rating allows). A couple of us are thinking about making the trek once again, but wanted a little more info. I just really want to play that course again, and Sunday events line up great for my schedule!

Thanks John!

It's c-tier under the CEP...so we will not be hitting the 85% that is typical.

Payout will be very similar to last year....entry fees are going mostly to charity. Everyone gets a fat players pack (nice disc & killer food) and nice trophies for 1st in all divisions. We'll have a bunch of schwag from sponsors given to top finishers in divisions & via CTPs. There will be ~$500 in innova stuff, some show tickets, some gift certs to local restaurants, some PP plastic, maybe a ladder, possibly beer, and whatever else i can drum up in the next 3 weeks. Finding sponsors has been much tougher this year than last. 1st-3rd will get $30/$20/$10 in payout.

Sounds great Ritger, Thanks for the details and all your hard work.

You do have to pay 85% of NET entry fees but i guess with the players pack, food, and trophies you could value that over the $30 entry and not have to payout anything.

I really want to play this awesome course again!

i'm still counting but i think it will be around $1500-$1600...close to last year, not bad given the economy...

no action @ PP next month, i'll be in utah! next action is weekly singles league, starting when daylight savings time returns.

Thanks for the stats ritger, it really makes laughing at dollar's 600 rated round that much more fun! I take it by 18 he pretty much had it!

But at least he finished, good sportsmanship, i think. :)
