8th Cold Snake Classic - 7 Dec 2008 Non Sanctioned Event

Postby chappy » Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:28 am

Here is some early info for the best tournament in Cherokee......

Date: Sunday 7 December 2008
Cost: $40 for all Pro Divisions $20 for all Am Divisions
Where: Sequoyah Park Disc Golf Course
Presented by DiscCaddie

Check in: 8:00-9:15am
Players Meeting: 9:15am
1st Round: After Players Meeting
Lunch: 45-60 minutes
2nd Round: TBA

Divisions:
Pro Open
Pro Masters
Advanced
Advanced Masters
Intermediate
Ladies/Jrs as needed

There will be plenty of side action so bring some extra cash.
There will be lunch at the course
If you do not attend you are not "cool"

One thing I would like to stress is that this is not a pdga tourney. Please do not try to send me entry money early. All entry fees will be collected that day and the staff will not turn anybody away for any reason (well any reason that does not involve not having any money). If you have any questions please call (678.232.2426) or pm me, Jay V. or Jason Bradshaw. Thanks, John Chapman.

United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive - Bring a NEW toy for a chance to win $100. Bring a second new toy and you will qualify for the Toys for Tots CTP as well :) If you don't bring a new toy(s) you can buy in for $5 for a chance to win $100 and be in on the CTP 8) All $$ donated will be used to by more new toys. All players entered in the $100 throw off will shot from tee 13 to basket 17 after final round.

This is an end of the year "feel good" tourney. We are looking for ANY kind of donations for CTP's. Cash, discs, swag, used furniture, bikes, nick knacks, FOOD, be creative :) whatever......all donations will go towards CTP's. Looking to get enough stuff to make a few free ones. Send PM to Jay Voss (screenname Jay).

What about the Raspberry Beret, the kind you find in a second hand store. You know, Raspberry Beret I think I love her.

Sorry I won't be able to attend this one, but I have a toy to donate. I plan on being at Pnut dubs tomorrow if the rain stops. Anyone going to CSC8 that will be there is welcome to take it. If I'm not there tomorrow, anyone in the Larryville area that is willing to stop by can have it. PM me if you're interested.

The toy is a "My Little Pony" boutique set. This might be the one to complete Chappy's extensive collection so you might be able to sell it to him and increase the donation to Toys For Tots exponentially!!

There will be a few locals at the course on saturday putting some finishing touches up for the tourney, so anyone who would like to help out is welcome. We may even do some doubles or something.

Also for those who dont want to drive sunday, there are a few hotels in the canton area that are fairly close to the course.

Last but not least, I already have the boutique set you spoke of chop so I dont have any problem giving it to the kids.Plus its all about hello kitty these days anyway

Nice to see the cost of the tourney reduced to $0 - this way, all the Obama supporters can afford to play.

And hole 4, but you can use a putter on all three holes anyway, so it's OK.

I was out there today and the course looks awesome! New stickers on the baskets so you can see them through the woods makes a huge difference. New pin placements make 1, 6, and 9 a bit tougher, and I like 1 and 9... bad 6, dont have a throw to get there

All in all the course is in great shape and the cool crisp air makes the discs fly just right! Can't wait for Sunday!

No need to wrap they toys. They have to be turned in new & unwrapped.

The best age to buy toys are for the older boys & girls ages 12-14. Every year at the Toys for Tots warehouse you see all the bins with toys in them except the older age bins...... sad, very sad. But hey, ANY new unwrapped toy that is donated is an excellent feeling!

Yes, I am meeting the parks staff tomorrow morning at 8am to pick up the keys for the Concession Stand and the two bathrooms. We have an awesome relationship with the parks dept and they will wait until after the tourney to winterize them......thanks goodness!

Bring your own Charmin TP or use the sand paper that they have in place.

I have AM Tag #3 and I really don't think there is anybody that can take it from me. I am so freaking confident that I can keep it or move up that I will volunteer to run the AM Tag action. I will not be selling them.

Turn your tag in to me before the rounds start along with a $1.99 processing fee !!!

I spoke to the parks maintenance supervisor this morning about your question after picking up the keys to the bathroom and concession stand. He recommended that after the first round, I can lock up the bathrooms......This way the alternate position you are requesting with be the port-a-john located at the lower soccer field by 15/16.

Will that work for you?

Great job to John Chapman, Jay Voss, Bradshaw and DiscCaddie and all the behind the scenes people for a good Event.

Congrats to Plotky, (who unlike Phil didn't share his wealth with others in his division ) for his first Pro Masters WIN!

As I recall,

Open - Arthur, Hammock, The Ritger
Masters - Plotky in a playoff
Advanced - Chris Quarles - 3 tied for 2nd
Am Masters - Commander Voss
Intermediate - Barry Arnson

I do not recall what the scores were. I am sure Chappy will get all the scores posted sometime before next year's tournament. He is usually good about that.

Good luck with that.

But you COULD go back to look at the scores from the '05 sanctioned Event and get a pretty close comparison to your rating as I would say the course was only about 1/2-1 stroke overall more difficult than at that time.

Thanks Snake Tourney Golfers!!!
Another $135.00 was raised for the Jim Warner Fund. We are now under $200 away from meeting our goal.
What's cool is that we still have plenty of SWAG to raise money with and should be able to throw quite a party at the IDGC when the JW course opens in May 2009. It is already open for play -but has no t-pads.
Keep up the great support ATL golfers!
Thanks especially to John Chapman and Jay Voss!!!
Sincerely-
