I have actually been playing McCurry more often lately. McCurry and J.P. Mosely take roughly the same amount of time for me to drive to from my house in Mcdonough. I enjoy playing at both courses. We actually had a 6 person game of team Disc Golf the other day. Three people per team and only the best score for the whole counted. It was fun, especially being my team won
I have finalized plans for this with the county and everything is approved, so we can start it up in september. Hope to see a few people out.
For the first weekend (Sep. 5th) we will play some of the new changes that have been proposed to the county. This will be a first chance look at the future of McCurry Park, so come check it out. Hole 2 par 4(New tee), Hole 6 shortend tee, Hole 8 par 4. Par 58. This is some but not all of the proposed tweaks. Come check it out as we will debut more each week through september.
Hello! I recently took a job in Atlanta, which forced me to move from Athens (which was close to Sandy Creek, where I was accustom to playing)... I am currently living in College Park and have hopes of finding a course and group to play with during week/weekend. I am NOT good, and do not have ambitions of competing, but love to get outside and play. If there are any groups playing, please let me know!
There is a group that gets together at Perkerson Park (near downtown) on Wed and plays around 5:00. It is a temporary course that we bring baskets to make. They have a forum on here for the course with directions and all the other info. Otherwise there are groups who get together all over Atlanta to play, just pick a course and I am sure someone will respond.
McCurry Park is about 30 min from college park. Its just a few years old so most of the players in this area are fairly new as well. There is regular weekday and weekend action (playing for $) all over atlanta. Some of these will allow players to play in a no-pay (UDGC) division so you can still hang out and see how your score stacks up.
Feel free to come out to McCurry Saturday. We will be playing a random draw doubles game. Then Lunch. Then maybe some singles or something. Action is Optional (but cheap)
Cant lie. So far its been kinda weak. 3-4 most times. But the course is getting a lot more play lately by out-of-towners and locals. Lots more brand new players, but some of them are pretty alright. I have patience and I am sure in time it will grow. If you build it...
No one else will run this if I am not there. I still show up even if nobody shows, just in case. One day I will have some legit action running here. One day. Can't go to Augusta as I have to work Saturday night. I need to raise $$$ for all the plastic I am going to lose sunday at FlyBoy.
Reduced the schedule. From now on I will only run action on the 1st saturday of the month. Action for Jan 2 2010 is ON! New teepads are finished and, with some luck, the trees on hole 2 will be downed before this event.
Good turnout in the freezing winds today. Thanks to Chris Scheibe for bringing his crew down. Singles followed by a dramatic round of Skins/Dubs were played. Looking forward to March action. Same day as the Fish n' Pig tourney in Macon, but anyone not playing there, come here.
Action to be determined. Maybe singles, maybe Skins/Dubs.
The Georgia Tech disc golf club will be there. I don't know if we will be playing in the tournament, as we planned to go to McCurry before I read this thread, but we'll have six or seven players out on the course either way.
