FOOD DONATIONS FOR BBQ LUNCH FUNDRAISER AT TOURNAMENT

Postby luke » Tue Jun 01, 2010 9:26 pm

We always do lunch at my house. I usually buy (almost) everything, then take donations for the course. This has been a major way the course has gotten funds in the past. It strikes me that it'd be easier for me to just donate my own money. Instead, I'll still cook, but I'd love it if someone loved the course/tournament enough that they'd volunteer to bring things.

POSSIBLE NEEDS FOR BBQ LUNCH FUNDRAISER:

Paper plates DD/Bobby
plastic forks DD/Bobby
Drinks----LUKE
Bread (I believe Vern already has this covered)
cups DD/Bobby
baked beans Josh Henley
POTATO CHIPS
Dessert--CHOP, I believe
good slaw (not no store-bought crap)
smoked butt (hold all jokes)-----LUKE BOUGHT AND SMOKED

If you have an idea not listed above, please post it. That menu is not set in stone.

ALSO, anyone staying at the house, any food donations are nice for the weekend. Chop has put together a menu for Saturday night that is quesadilla-based. If you are coming for the party but not to spend the night, 3-4 ounces of meat per person and a drink would be a good idea. We'll cook it.

I won't be able to do SUNDAY BRUNCH like normal, since we have a tournament Sunday. For breakfast, I recommend the Ingles in Monticello. It is cheap and gravy-liscious. Also, I've heard that the DQ breakfast is also acceptable.

Let me know if you have suggestions outside of what I listed above.

Key lime cheesecake for dessert.
I will suggest Quesadillas for Saturday night and prepare them for all. If this sounds good, how many people are we cooking for? If not, what other suggestions for Saturday dinner?
After we come up with a decision, I will put up a list of needed items and people who are staying can choose an item to bring.

YESSSS.

So far the list of folks staying at my place is pretty short. There shouldn't be more than 8 golfers (give or take 1 or 2) staying overnight when all is said and done. More might stay for the party, but that's the party...

Keep your eye on the accommodations post for that one as the week progresses. Hopefully we'll have an accurate count by next Wednesday.

What did it say and who is stupid?

I know its my post but I honestly don't remember what I wrote. Am I being censored for changing the cheesecake to key lime from pumpkin??? I mean its summer and citrus is so refreshing!

I was stupid. Somehow I have the ability to edit other people's stuff on the Deer Ridge Thread. I accidently erased yours when I was trying to add another post. It was your call for others staying at my place to pitch in and help with mexican for Saturday night.---Quesadillas? tacos? Not sure, but it looked good. Then you asked the qu "chicken or beef?"

You'd made a list of things different folks could donate.

Any chop cheesecake is fine, from what I understand.

I'm counting 11 including me and Rhonda that are staying Sat night.

I've got yellow rice and black beans covered.

I think we should probably get several people to bring meat...

You can roast potatoes on Friday night then warm them up. I don't yet know Rhonda's status during the tournament.

Crickey, Cash is always fine for Saturday. You will probably want to bring 3-4 ounces of beef or chicken for CHop's quesadillas on Saturday night. If no cash, get some really good cole slaw or mac and cheese or something.

Sounds good Josh! if we shred up the chicken it should more than enough to fill the Quesadillas. who is bringing the chips, cheese and tortillas. Salsas are made. One hot, the other hotter than usual! Cheesecake done and freezing. Can't wait! I'll confirm now for singles on Sunday, Luke.

No potatoes, take to long to cook. I'm gonna make some smoked Gouda and chorizo stuffed jalapeños. They kick ass going and coming.

I got black beans and yellow rice.

The barbecue sauce is mustard based. Should I make a second one, "tomato" based?
