Redan Spring cleaning work day Sunday May 23rd 8am

Can we set something up?
I was thinking we could do some work before P-nut Dubs on a Sunday, then get the grill going (chicken legs, ala "wa-pow" style), Play 9/18 holes and hopefully the chicken would be done, and eat.

I saw that a few areas are starting to get overgrown with privet, poison oak, etc. We could spray these ares and clear/cut/trim back a few areas. Hole 10's steps at teh green needs a bit of fixing up where someone has damaged the step down.
There's not really a ton of work, but if we hit it now we can have take care of most of the undergrowth.
Anyone down for helping ?
Do I need to get permission from anyone for this??

Wa-pow chicken legs = Johnny Harris bbq sauce, tub of bbq sauce in the middle of the grill surrounded by chicken legs (that will get dipped/dunked often)



I can provide the chicken, bbq, grill, and a few tools, some spray and two sprayers.

I will do my best to be at any Redan clean up and I can confirm a little closer to the actual date (whatever it turns out to be) . We worked on the JW garden a couple of weeks ago so it should be blooming soon.

I thought mudders day was last Saturday in Toccoa and B'ham! I can't make it on 5/9 but 5/16 looks good and I will donate the chicken! Hope to see the Jester this sunday at Pnut dubs to work on a complete list of what we'd like to get done. We can also do this offline but a couple of the bridges need work thanks to the horses (arses). The patch on the bridge from hole 12 to 13 is temporary and needs a better fix. The bridge from 6 to 7 also needs a few new boards and some very long nails as the substructure is rotten near the top. Would also like to see the privet trimmed back on the right side of 14 when playing from the alternate teepad. Get your requests posted here and we'll get them prioritized before the workday. I think we should wait until the silt fences are taken down and the new grass is cut a couple of times before we start replacing pin positions lost to the new sewer line. Thanks to all the volunteers i know are going to show up!

As was the case on 17's tee yesterday. Pretty much covered by it. Looks like it will be a continuous problem with all that mud right behind the tee running down straight onto it.

The railroad ties that were blocking the runoff from 16 before the pipe went in are still sitting next to the tee pad. Scraping the ground down behind the pad and replacing the ties should take care of that.

If the clean-up day is on the 16th or anytime not mother's day I am definitely down for helping with the rr ties or whatever else needs to be done. I have already been taking small bags with me and picking up litter as I see it on any course, but also would love to help improve this nice piece of land more as I play redan quite a bit.

Thanks to everybody who helped out at the workday at Redan yesterday. Bridges were mended, branches were chopped, cut and machetied, and balls were blown (gumballs off the fairways - get your minds out of the gutter!). Thanks to all who volunteered and worked so hard:

I think Dale did the most work!! He cleaned up all around the course in various spots.
Vern is the best supervisor in the southeast, he keeps you motivated. You may want to stay away from him while he has a machete though...
Skeletor did a great job on the bridges.... I'll get by there with some nails and finish them off this week.
