ADGO news -- fall member event & BOD elections

ADGO Members,

With fall approaching we wanted to update you on happenings within the ADGO - specifically the upcoming membership elections for the ADGO Board of Directors and the ADGO Fall event @ Perkerson Park.

BOD Elections
There are 8 elected positions with terms running 2 years; as the revived ADGO is in its 2nd year, the first group of 4 positions are up for election. We're looking for enthusiastic people with some time to volunteer that are interested in growing and promoting the sport of disc golf in Atlanta. This is your chance to make a difference & improve the local scene!

Positions up for election (2 year terms)
Vice President - Jay Voss is not returning. The Vice-President shall assist the club president and will take on the responsibilities of the president in the event of his/her absence. The vice-president shall be responsible for coordinating with the various club committees and for giving a report on the progress or status of these committees at the club meetings.
Membership Director - Rick Greer is not returning. Membership Director shall be responsible for all ADGO membership issues, motivate members to get involved in order to breed leaders, and work with local Tournament Directors (TD’s) to resolve any PDGA membership issues prior to a tournament.
Treasurer - John Ritger is re-running. Treasurer shall receive, deposit, and make authorized disbursements in the name of the ADGO for all club money.
The Treasurer shall maintain a simple yet thorough system of accounting and provide financial updates at least monthly and at all BOD meetings and at each annual meeting (January).

Communications Director - Imran Khan is not returning The Communications Director shall assign a Webmaster (WM) and Assistant Webmaster (AWM) responsible for website currency, growth, and all duties related to website management. All website information, changes, and ideas will be submitted to the WM & AWM by the Communications Director.


Webmaster Needed
Webmaster - Barry is not returning; Need 1 or 2 web gurus to improve the http://www.discgolfatlanta.com website and keep it current

Secretary - Woody
Course Liason Director - Grease is not returning - Looking for people interested in this position The Course Liaison Director shall chair a committee of local Course Managers to assist and or guide them with the growth of disc golf in their communities. Items will include working with local Recreation & Parks Authority, enhancing current courses, and development of new courses.
Events Director - Pnut
President - Keith

Schedule:
October 3rd - start promotion of election to let people know about running for postions available.
November 1st - People can declare they are running for "X" position
November 24th - Deadline for nominations
December 1st to 20th - ADGO Members vote for candidates, all candidates will be posted on the ADGO message board
January 1st, 2009 - Elected members start their term

ADGO Fall Event - Sunday 11/9/08 @ Perkerson Park
The fall member event will be held at the Perkerson Park Temp Course on the 18 hole, par 61 layout. The ADGO has been key in legitimizing the effort to make this course permanent, and it's looking very likely that it will become permanent in 2009. Course will be setup from 9am - 5:30pm. The course will be setup the 2nd sunday of each month Nov - Mar; these events are the only chance to play it until Spring 2009. Schedule
1 round of Singles, followed by lunch (lunch = free)
Open play on the course after lunch....singles/doubles/whatever you want...Ritger will run organized singles after lunch, someone else can run doubles if they'd like
8am - 9:15am: Sign-in, register, setup (if helping with setup be there early!)
9:30: Players meeting
10am: Tee off singles
Cost: Free for all current members; $15 to join or $10 to renew. **Must be current to play**

I will post a list of who's current for 2008 in the next week or 2 on the ADGO message board. If you registered for the ADGO at the December member event @ Sequoyah park or anytime during 2008 you are current; if you registered prior to that you need to renew.

Volunteers needed: Cooks, Setup, Registration, Donations -- food items, CTPs, etc
Baskets needed: We need 18 quality metal baskets as this is a temporary course

Post an announcement to run for one of the below ADGO Board Positions or send a PM/Email to any Board Member.
